2002 Proclamation by the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors:
“WHEREAS, Pennswood Village has designed and constructed a storm water treatment system that not only addressed
their own storm water runoff but also that of their neighbors upstream in the
watershed; and
WHEREAS, Pennswood Village has utilized their own private funding
to install this storm water treatment facility on their property in the
Township; and
WHEREAS, Pennswood Village has created a model for sustainable and
ecologically sound storm water management for the Township through the use of
techniques that provide for the infiltration of storm water, the recharge of
groundwater, the decrease in peak flow and flooding, the increase of base flow
for the Neshaminy Creek, providing habitat in the ponds, channels and riparian
areas of the project and the planting of native species of trees, shrubs,
grasses and flowers that will thrive and continue to improve in the years to
come: and
WHEREAS, Pennswood Village has provided tours, and freely shared
access to this information with schools, municipalities, environmental groups
and others to promote this new model of storm water management. Pennswood
Village has earned a place in the life and history of the Township of Middletown
