Is Pennswood Village accredited by the CARF-CCAC?
The Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC), which was acquired by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in 2003, is the nation's only accrediting body for continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). Pennswood Village received its first accreditation in 1987 and its fourth reaccreditation in 2003. This is a peer review process that covers the areas of Resident Life, Health Care, Governance and Financial status with respect to its Mission Statement.

Lifetime health care is provided to each resident under the Life Care Contract by a team of two physicians, two geriatric nurse practitioners as well as nurses on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Covered referrals to specialists, transportation to all medical appointments and a prescription drug plan from the Pennswood pharmacy on campus are also included in the contract. A personal care and skilled nursing facility are connected to the community building, for both temporary recovery or long term needs.

What do the entry fee and monthly fees cover?
The Entry Fee is a one-time payment that guarantees future health care services at Pennswood Village. It is similar to a long term care insurance policy, by reducing the fee for health care in our assisted living or skilled care facilities to a low monthly rate rather than a high "per diem" rate. The monthly fee covers all apartment utilities (except telephone & cable modem service), weekly housekeeping and linen change, maintenance, as well as outpatient resident health services, and twenty-four hour emergency call system and more.

Are meals included in the monthly fee?
The monthly fee quoted includes the option of three meals a day. Residents can choose one, two, three or no meals on a monthly basis. The monthly fee reflects the meal plan selected.

Does Pennswood Village have entry fee assistance?
In 2000, the residents of Pennswood Village initiated the endowment for a partial entry fee assistance fund that is totally supported by their generosity. The fund is intended to assist applicants who have the annual income to live in our community but could use some extra assistance with the capital to finance the entry fee. Please discuss this with the Marketing Department when you come for a visit.
