Dining Services Supervisor - Main Dining Room and Catering
The Dining Services Supervisor is responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of the Main Dining Room and Private Dining Room. In conjunction with the Front of the House Manager and Executive Chef, this position oversees and coordinates the scheduling, implementation and execution of catered events. Responsibilities include event planning with residents, guests and staff and staff scheduling and maintenance and related payroll functions; recruiting, interviewing, hiring and training of MDR service staff.
High School Diploma or equivalent with continuing education in Food Service Management, Minimum 5 years experience in fine dining, hospitality, conference or hotel services. Minimum 3 years experience in supervision/management in food service or related field. Serv Safe Certification required. Must have appropriate computer experience for the position, knowledge of safety and sanitation standards and procedures, and knowledge of food service equipment and cleaning agents.
Activities Manager
Full Time
Establish and implement programs for each resident as part of the individual plan of care and in coordination with disciplines as a part of the interdisciplinary team. Develop the policies and standards of practice for the activity department and assures compliance with standards (Federal, State, Pennswood Village). Coordinate the activity program with all other departments and integrates the activities with the total community. Maintain accurate written and oral communications. Provide orientation, demonstration, supervision and evaluation of all personnel in the Activities Department including volunteers. Maintain and insure the personal rights of all patients through knowledge and advocacy of the Resident’s Bill of Rights. Cooperate with George School and Newtown Friends School to facilitate intergenerational activities. Provide continuing education programs to interdisciplinary health service staff. Promote Resident Volunteer participation in the activity programs where appropriate. Participate in the development of the department operating and capital budgets, manages and monitors department expenditures within the annual operating budgetary guidelines. Purchase supplies, equipment and materials to facilitate programs and maintain a system of inventory control. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field, i.e., Recreation, Art Therapy, Music, Dance, Gerontology and/or NCCAP Certification, two years previous experience in a health care activities department; 3 years supervisory experience. Knowledge of recreational activities for geriatric health care patients. General knowledge of Microsoft Windows based computer system and of departmental software, as required. Appropriate computer experience for position. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, families, visitors, volunteers.
Activities Assistant
Part Time - Monday, Wednesday and every other Sunday, 1:15 pm - 5:15 pm
Assists in planning, organizing and implementing a program of activities which meet the individual needs of residents. Assures the continuity of programming in the absence of the Activities Manager. Assists in coordinating the activity program with all other departments and integrating the activities with the total community. Completes the following: assists/conducts activities, transports residents requiring assistance, activity room preparation, assures a safe physical environment in the activity room, conducts room visits, provides direction and support to resident volunteers, participates in intergenerational activities. Maintains and insures the personal rights of all residents through knowledge of and advocacy of the Residents Bill of Rights. Assists with requisition and purchase of supplies, equipment and materials and maintains inventory control. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous related experience preferred with skills in music, art or physical recreation. Able to communicate effectively with residents, staff, families, visitors and volunteers. General knowledge of Microsoft Windows computer based software.
Trips Committee Coordinator
40 hours bi-weekly, days/times to be determined
Coordinates services with the Trips Committee. Together with the Trips Committee chairperson, develops and maintains policies and procedures. Works with outside agencies and facilities to enhance transportation programs. Coordinates current information, brochures and schedules for events and programs with committee chairpeson. Assists in scheduling drivers for all requested trips. Functions as a driver as situations require; observes all traffic laws. Maintains department records as required.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, valid drivers license with no major violations; current insurance on personal vehicle. General knowledge of Microsoft Windows based computer system. Minimum of one year genearl office or related experience. Minimum 25 years of age. Proven communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to solve problems. Knowledge of the area serviced by the program. Physically able to drive all vehicles and ability to meet the physical demands of the position. Demonstrated ability to drive safely a 14-passenger bus, station wagons and sedan, through a road test to be completed with the Transportation Supervisor.
