Community Contributions
Pennswood Village's Contributions to our local community
-
In 2000 Pennswood, as part of our redevelopment and expansion plans, entered
into a partnership with Middletown Township to address local traffic safety and
regional storm water management issues. As part of our support of the township,
we dedicated 13 acres of our land, valued at more than 1.3 million dollars, to the
Regional Storm Water Management System. This management system will serve
the community for decades to come. (See the Conservation section of the Web
site for more information.)
-
Pennswood has provided meals, more that 50 volunteers and office space for the
Woodside Meals on Wheels program since 1980. Our dedicated Dining Services
staff makes the meals using the same high-quality menu we serve our Pennswood
Village residents. Pennswood contributes 10,300 meals, 3,100 snacks, and 9,600
beverages a year to this program.
-
Pennswood is one of the Bucks County's largest employers. We employ more
than 400 highly skilled caregivers and support staff. Our goal is to provide
competitive salaries, a respectful work environment, as well as good medical
insurance and retirement benefits.
-
Pennswood opens its doors to 24 non-profit organizations that use our community
rooms for their meetings. Please contact us at 215-504-1129 if your organization
is interested in holding meetings on our campus.
-
Residents continue to contribute their time and efforts to their communities even
after they move to Pennswood. In 2007, our residents volunteered 30,000 hours
to churches, hospitals, schools, arts and culture, interracial and peace centers,
museums, day care, historical societies, libraries, garden clubs, Hospice, prisons
and other groups.
-
Pennswood residents and staff contribute annually to United Way.
-
Pennswood contributes to The James A. Michener Art Museum.
-
Pennswood donates kitchen furnishings and appliances in good condition to
Habitat for Humanity and area churches.
-
Pennswood is a frequent contributor to the Red Cross Homeless Shelter in
Penndel, Pennsylvania.
